Recommendations for computer-assisted translation tools

Received from a colleague who has a scanned corpus:

I’ve been looking at text alignment tools, translation memory, and computer-assisted translation recently and wondered if all that stuff was kind of in your wheelhouse. Do you have any tips for good tools to use? I have text files and I want to align the translations - I’ve seen stuff on LF Aligner, SDL Trados, Nova Aligner WinAlign, and Sketch Engine, but I’m unsure what the most user-friendly and applicable is going to be.

I haven’t done any work in this area, but OmegaT is a free software, cross-platform Java app that seems to have a lot of users:

I’ll invite a response with more details about the use case.

This looks very promising and something that we need. I hopefully can find some time to look into it further.
